Victoria Walker, MD, CMD, FAAFP begam her career in family practice before focusing on PALTC medicine. She enjoys the complexity of medical care in this setting and the rich life histories her patients share. She joined the Avel eCare Senior Care program in 2020.
Dr. Walker received her medical degree from the University of South Dakota and completed her family medicine residency at Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. She is a member of the physician Honor Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. While completing a Health and Aging Policy Fellowship in 2014-16, Dr. Walker was the national coordinator for the Family Caregiver Platform Project and worked with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to partner with the provider community to reduce adverse events in post-acute and long-term care. Currently, she is a clinical associate professor at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, the Medical and Clinical Officer of Avel eCare Senior Care program and serves on the board for Bethany Homes Foundation and the board of Advancing Excellence in Long-Term Care Collaborative. Dr. Walker currently chairs AMDA's Public Policy Steering Committee, serves as a reviewer for JAMDA, and on the state chapter board. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and perennial gardening, cheers on the University of South Dakota, and treasures spending time with her grandchildren, who keep her entertained and exhausted.
