The MessageLab project was funded in 2019 to address this issue and resulted in five evidence-based messaging principles that helped focus group participants, including those from diverse communities, to better understand and be more interested in these aspects of serious illness care. This session will review the online serious illness messaging toolkit designed to help those implement these messaging principles. This session will specifically review the five messaging principles that leading organizations in the field are using to improve their public education, cover sections on how to talk to the public about advance care planning, palliative care, and hospice, and share text and images that are available at no charge for organizations to use in their own education. AMDA is currently a grantee in this effort.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this session, learners will be able to:
Describe the 5 evidence-based messaging principles for serious illness.
